Srinagar: Scores of public health engineering (PHE) department daily wagers held a massive demonstration here on Tuesday demanding the release of long pending salaries.

Protesting under the banner of Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association, daily wagers with their children assembled here in Pratap Park and staged a demonstration against the department, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. The protesters were carrying placards and shouting slogans alleged that the department was holding their salaries from more than 21 months.

โ€œThe department is fooling us by holding our salaries,โ€ Association Chairman, Sajad Ahmad Parray told Kashmir Reader.

Protesters said that their wards were being rusticated from schools due to non-payment of fees.

โ€œWhy isnโ€™t government releasing salary of my father so that I could pay my fee and go to school,โ€ Waris Ahmad Hurra, a protesting child said.
