Illicit Timber seized in Kupwara REPRESENTATIONAL PIC

SRINAGAR, NOV 12 : The forest department has seized a vehicle loaded with illicit timber in Batpora area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, an official of the department said on Monday.

He said that on the intervening night of November 11 and 12, Range officer Kupwara along with his team, acting on specific information, seized one tractor with timber of 19.28 feet.

The smugglers on seeing the forest department staff escaped from the site taking advantage of darkness leaving behind vehicle loaded with timber at Batpora area.

When contact to Range Officer Wali Mohammad said that, “after receiving specific inputs about the illegal timber smuggling,  set a naka with other officers  in Batpora area and intercepted a tractor and recovered  illicit timber from the vehicle.”
