Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), constituted to probe the money-laundering allegations vis-a-vis the Panama papers, on June 15.
According to the local media reports, Mr Sharif will be the first sitting Prime Minister to appear before any investigating agency.
The probe will try to look into the allegations of “financial irregularities” against nearly his entire family, going back to three generations.
“The summons were issued by the JIT on June 8, asking the PM ‘to appear and associate with the JIT’ on June 15 at 1100 hrs, at the office of JIT, Federal Judicial Academy, Service Road South, Sector H-8/4, Islamabad,” a report in the daily ‘Dawn’ said.
The JIT’s summons also directed the Prime Minister to ‘kindly bring along relevant record/documents/material’ related to the Panama Papers case. (UNI)
