Mumbai, Dec 20 The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday slipped by 234 points to 36,249.74 in opening trade on profit booking by local operators at higher level.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too dropped by 70.25 points to 10,897.05.
The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 36,383.20 and 36,202.90 respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra-day high and low at 10,935.70 and 10,880.05 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like materials, energy, finance, industrials and telecom pushed the sensex down, broker informed.
The losers were VEDL by 4.75 pc to Rs 202.15, NTPC by 1.67 pc to Rs 147.30, Bharti Airtel by 1.61 pc to Rs 317.05, Powergrid by 1.48 pc to Rs 196, HDFC by 1.47 pc to Rs 1949.20 and Adani Ports by 1.28 pc to Rs 370.75.
The gainers were Yes Bank by 2.92 pc to Rs 184.85, M & M by 1.51 pc to Rs 792.30, Asian Paints by 1.40 pc to Rs 1420 and Sun Pharma by 0.70 pc to Rs 426.95.
