The mock-drill was conducted by a joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary CRPF near the historic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk.

Government forces on Saturday conducted a mock-drill in Lal Chowk area of summer capital Srinagar to check their “alertness” ahead of R-Day.

The mock-drill was conducted by a joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary CRPF near the historic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk.

The forces used drones mounted with cameras, carried out searches of the buildings and frisked pedestrians in the commercial hub, said a witness.

The operation was carried out just a day after suspected militants lobbed a grenade at a CRPF party in the area.
