Lucknow:  Uttar Pradesh witnessed mixed reaction for a state bandh called by traders union over the introduction of Goods and Services Tax(GST) regime from midnight last night.
There is a division of opinion between traders union in the state and the bandh was partially successful.
However, in some parts such as Kanpur, Allahabad, Meerut and Bareilly, the bandh was near total.
In Kanpur, the bandh supporters also tried to stop trains near Govindpuri station while in some parts, the traders squatted on roads.
In Lucknow, Akhil Bharatiya Yudog Vypar Mandal and Uttar Pradesh Yodog Vypar Pratinidhi Mandal were supporting the Bandh, but several other traders organisation, including Adarsh Vypar Mandal, was opposing it and supporting the GST. (UNI)
