SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police South Kashmir, SP Pani to probe the Amarnath Yatra ‘attack’.
The teams, besides, includes SSP Anantnag, Altaf Ahmad Khan. Pertinentlyon Monday late afternoon, a bus carrying Amarnath Yatris came under cross fire between suspected militants and forces at Batengoo village in Anantnag district on Srinagar Jammu highway.  Seven Yatris including were killed in the attack while 19 others suffered injuries.
Police had said that the attack was not aimed at the Yatris but the forces personnel. However Police later blamed Lashkar for the attack and said that it was led by their commander, Ismail. While militants outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Muhammad condemned the attack. The attack was also widely condemned by the civil society of Kashmir, and resistance leadership.
