Amid shutdown, three slain militants laid to rest

SRINAGAR : A complete shutdown was observed in most parts of the Anantnag district in Kashmir to mourn the killings of three militants in a brief encounter late evening yesterday.

All shops, business establishments and educational institutions were closed while as public transport was off the roads. Authorities also snapped high speed internet services in the district to avoid any disturbance in law & order.

The three militants identified as Showket Lohar of Arwini area in Bijbehara, Muzaffar Hajam of Kokernag and Nasir Ahmad of Pohru Anantnag were killed in an Army ambush in Bulbul Nowgam area of Achabal.

Thousands of people today including men, women and children took part in the last rites of slain Lashkar-e-Toiba militants at their native places in South Kashmir. People amid pro freedom slogans reached at the funeral procession of the militants to pay their respect.
