Ganderbal: National Conference and Congress leaders hold a joint workers meeting at NC headquarter in Ganderbal on Thursday where Tariq Hamid Karra pledged full support for Farooq Abdullah on the Srinagar seat.

The senior leaders of both the parties including Ali Mohammad sagar, Nasar Aslam Wani, Akbar Lone and MLA Ganderbal were also present on workers meeting.

Congress leader Tariq Hamid Karra, who recently quit the PDP, while addressed the party workers, to vote against the ruling coalition in the bypolls, saying when humanityย  is under threat, it is the duty of Muslims to do something for theor people. Stopping fascist forces from making inroads in Jammu and Kashmir is good work for me. It is a religious duty for me,” he said.

Asking the people to defeat the PDP which has joined hands with the BJP and RSS for forming the government in the state, the Congress leader said those who have united to support the NC-Congress candidates are “doing good work in party”, he said.

The NC has a pre-poll alliance with Congress while the PDP is fighting alone. The BJP, which is having a tie-up with the PDP in the government, is not contesting the bypolls.

Tariq Karra, who defeated NC president Farooq Abdullah in 2014 general elections and is now campaigning for him, said he would fully support the NC and Congress candidates in the upcoming parliamentary bypolls.

National Conference president and candidate for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that by-polls are important battles that would both define and measure the strength of our people in resisting the โ€œtyrannical onslaught of the BJP and the RSSโ€ in the State.

Addressing workers at NC headquarters in Ganderbal, Abdullah said that by-polls are important battles that will test the resolve of the people of the Valley. โ€œThis is an important battle and will test our resolve and our integrity. It is vital to defeat RSS and its local affiliates, who have always harboured an ambition to subvert the Stateโ€™s political rights and special statusโ€, he said.

โ€Make no mistake about the fact that vote for PDP means vote for BJP”, he said while addressed party workers.

โ€œThis Government has failed to provide even basic facilities to the people and development has come to a standstill. If Home Minister want to talk with all stockholders then whyย  PDP send all them behind the bars. Now PDP starting to distribute various funds to poor and needy people which only means a big joke for all. The Parliament by-polls presents an important, vital opportunity to confront this alliance and stand in resolute opposition to its ulterior motivesโ€, Farooq Abdullah said.
