Srinagar: Strike by employees engaged under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) on Sunday enters seventh day.

The MGNREGA employees are on indefinite hunger strike and demanding job policy for them.

Several MGNREGA employees were detained by police earlier in the week.

The protesting employees, who sat on a indefinite strike in Pratap Park here, said that they want a written formal order from the concerned minister.

They said Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Abdul Haq Khan had assured them that a job policy has been framed but is yet to issue an order in this regard.

They were demanding immediate regularization of their duties and pending wages.
