Kulgam: A militant in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district managed to escape from his house, after government forces laid a siege in Gratbal Qaimoh area. Government Forces, however claimed that a Self Loading Rifle (SLR) was recovered from the house of the escaped militant.

SSP Kulgam Sridhar Patil said that they had received information that a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Shakir Ahmed Itoo of Gratbal Qaimoh is in the possession of weapons which is being used to spread terror in view of the upcoming Parliament bipolls.

“Before siege was laid around the house of the militant, Shakir Ahmed managed to flee from the spot. However, search of the suspected house thereafter lead to the recovery of one SLR with 3 magazines and 13 rounds,” Patil said adding that an FIR vide number 37/2017 under section 10/13/18 ULA(P) Act, section 7/25 has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been set into motion.
