Srinagar: Claiming that Chadoora encounter was a clear example of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s words being ignored, main opposition in the state National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah asked if anyone was even listening to the head of the Unified Command.

“Yesterday’s encounter is a clear example of CM’s words being ignored – 9 hrs long & result is a C grade militant with a Chinese pistol,” Mr Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the state, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Mr Abdullah was reacting to Ms Mehbooba’s statement that police have been told to try and bring back local militants to their homes instead of killing them.

“@MehboobaMufti claiming that police have been told not to kill local militants. Is anyone even listening to the head of the Unified Command,” Mr Abdullah wrote.

A militant was gunned down and a soldier was injured in an encounter in Budgam’s Chadoora, where three civilians were killed and several others were injured in security force firing on demonstrators, who tried to disrupt an operation yesterday.
