Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik Tuesday called for “2016 like protests” on the days when by-elections are scheduled on central and south Kashmir Lok Sabha seats.

“People should start holding protests from April 8 after 6 PM,” the leaders said in a joint statement.

They stressed upon people to hold “massive protests the same way” they did in 2016 uprising.

The leaders reiterated their election boycott call and said, “Complete shutdown should be observed on April 9 and 12 in central and south Kashmir respectively, on April 7 people should support the resolution of the leadership and the protests should start on April 8 after 6 PM.”

Pertinently, by-elections to central Kashmir Lok Sabha seat are scheduled on April 9 while as south Kashmir seat will go for polls on April 12.
