Bandipora: Incessant rainfall in the last  wee hours has caused water logging on the Bandipora-Srinagar road and in the schools located in Hajin.

The 60 km-long road has water accumulated at several spots such as Ajas and Saderkoot Bla.

The commuters said the authorities haven’t been managing the road properly, creating a situation in which even a little rain inundates it.

“A hint of wet weather virtually turns this road into a stream. Yet again, it has become inundated due to the continuous rainfall in the wee hours,” Imran, a commuter, said.

The road, according to the residents, was macadamised about seven years ago; the authorities have only carried out its minor repairs since then.

In 2011, the Border Roads Organisation took over the maintenance of the road, but “they too didn’t pay any heed to the people’s woes”, the residents said.

Meanwhile, the residents of Hajin, Bandipora, expressed concern over water logging in the locality’s schools.

They said Government Girls School Hajin and Government Primary School in Syed Mohallah were severely affected by water logging caused by the rains.

“It is unfortunate that little rain causes water logging in schools here. We have been taking up this issue with the authorities, but in vain,” Amir , a resident of Hajin, told News repoter bhat zahoor.

The students said they have to take off their shoes to wade through the water-logged compound to reach the classrooms.

“This has become recurring problem that no one is addressing,” a student said.

Executive Officer at Municipal Committee, Hajin, Could not be contacted for valuable comments.
