Srinagar: Police have registered attempt to murder and criminal assault on female, cases against five National Conference (NC) workers who had allegedly carried murderous assault on voters on the day of polling for Srinagar parliamentary seat.

Sources said that Police have registered case vide FIR number 24/2017 U/S 307, 341 against five National Conference workers at police station Kothibagh here for assaulting a voter and his aunt for refusing their offer to cast votes in favor of a particular candidate against rupees one thousand.

Pertinently, a businessman from Srinagar and his ailing aunt were allegedly roughed up by NC workers at Biscoe School polling booth after they refused to comply with their orders.

The businessman according to his family members was rushed to hospital where he received seventeen stitches in his right eye and cheek and is undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital here.

“After conducting necessary medical examination of the victim, we registered attempt to murder and criminal assault on female cases against five people, who at at large since the occurrence of the deadly assault,” a senior police official said.

He said that police have also launched a manhunt to arrest all the six accused who are at large after attacking and grievously injuring a common voter.
