KUPWARA: Restrictions were imposed in many villages of district Kupwara, where one person died and several others were injured forces firing on yesterday, when two militants and three soldiers, including an officer were killed in a fidayeen attack.

Official sources said that restrictions under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in Kupwara, Kralpora, Lalpora, Sogam, Trehgam and Panzgam as a precautionary measure.

Additional police and security forces have been deployed in these places to prevent any law and order problem. Massive protests rocked Panzgam and Kralpora yesterday when locals took to the streets, demanding return of bodies of two fidayeen killed in an encounter with troops.

Situation elsewhere in the north Kashmir was normal with business and other activities going on smoothly and traffic plying on all routes.
