SRINAGAR: The Election Commission of India cancels the Anantnag Lok Sabha bypolls, in view of the current turbulent situation in Valley.
ECI said that the situation is not conducive to hold free and fair elections. The bypolls, earlier were scheduled to be held on April 12, were postponed for May 25.
In a 10-page order, The Commission said non-availability of sufficient number of forces’ personnel was another reason to cancel the poll process adding that a fresh date would be announced later.
