SRINAGAR: United Nations Special Rapporteur on Free speech David Kaye has said that United Nations will soon raise the issue of social media ban in Kashmir with government of India.

He said in an interview with international television that they haven’t raised their concerns with Government of India yet, but they we will raise it soon. He added that they are trying to gather information on the nature of restrictions.

He said, “One of the problems is that rising authoritarianism is restricting freedom of expression offline as well as online”.

Pertinently, the United Nation considers the internet a human right.
