Srinagar:  Government forces including army and police have recovered bodies of four militants who were killed during 36-hour long gunbattle near Line of Control in Naugam sector of Handwara in Kupwara district.

Official sources said that during sanitizing operation, the government forces recovered the bodies. “These militants were killed after they sneaked into this side of the fence two days ago,” the sources added. Meanwhile, all the four militants — whose identities have not been ascertained — were buried near the fence by forces.

Meanwhile, Army today paid homage to three of its gallant soldiers who were killed in fierce encounter along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector.  Joined by top officials from Civil Administration and other Security Forces operating in the Valley, the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen JS Sandhu paid rich tributes to Havaldar Giris Gurung, Havaldar Damar Bahadur Pun and Rifleman Rabin Sharma in a solemn ceremony in BB Cantonment Srinagar.
