SRINAGAR: Despite increase in the cherry cultivation, the production of cherry fruit is affected due to frequent bad weather conditions this year in Kashmir valley.

Growers said that despite having good demand for cherry at good prices, they are not happy with the production. They said that the production is hit by a margin of 50% as compared to expected estimate.

They said that the hail storms and climate changes reduced the production of cherry, which has taken heavy tool on their business. They alleged that the horticulture and agriculture department never bothered to visit the affected growers. They also alleged that government only makes false promises of supporting the growers, but to no avail.
