SRINAGAR:  Train services resumed in the Kashmir valley after remaining suspended for two days due to security reasons.
The train services were suspended on June 22 following the death of a youth and injuries to four others when security forces fired pellets and burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators at Kakpora in Pulwama, where three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter.
However, yesterday the services remained suspended for the second day following call by separatists to hold demonstrations after Friday prayers.
‘We have resumed train service between Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north today,’ a railway official.
He said similarly, train runs from Badgam-Srinagar-Pulwama-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region have also been resumed from this morning. (UNI)
