NEW DELHI: Hitting back at the China’s provocative statement that India should learn from its “historic lessons” of 1962, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today said India of 2017 was different from India of 1962.
Speaking at a TV channel’s event, Mr Jaitley said, ‘If they are trying to remind us, the situation in 1962 was different, the India of today is different.
‘ A day ago, the China’s Defence Ministry spokesperson while referring to the 1962 war between the two countries, had said the Indian Army should learn from “historical lessons”.
Mr Jaitley’s comment has come at a time when the relations between both the nations are tense as New Delhi and Beijing has accused each other of crossing the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Sikkim sector’s Doklam area.
Responding to the China’s accusation, Mr Jaitley said China was trying to encroach on Bhutan’s land located near the Indian border. (UNI)
