SRINAGAR:  Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Advisor to the Chief Minister, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here.

Prof. Mattoo briefed the Governor about the initiatives underway, on various fronts, for advancing the interests of the people and the State of J&K.

The Governor discussed with Prof. Mattoo the need for sustained attention being given for protecting the standard and integrity of the entire educational sector, from primary school upwards, and for well planned care being taken to nurture and advance the aspirations of youth. The Governor cautioned about the adverse and highly injurious consequences of the educational arena and the youth being exploited for pursuing narrow and negative objectives. In this context the Governor suggested to the Advisor to plan a whole scale audit of the existing educational framework and time bound action to remedy the numerous gaps in the functioning of government schools, about which he had written to the Education Minister a few days back.
