Hamburg: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving here today to participate in the G20 Summit at which terrorism, climate, change and open trade will be dominating the agenda.
Besides, Mr Modi, other world leaders, who will be converging here for the annual economic meet are President Xi Jinping of China, US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, British Prime Minister Theresa May, French President Emmanual Macron and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Amid the continuing stand-off between India and China on the border in Sikkim, there were speculations that a meeting may take place between Mr Modi and Mr Xi on the sidelines of the Summit.
However, signals coming from both the countries indicate little possibility of any bilateral meeting, though both the leaders will be at the same platform, so some sudden informal interaction could not be ruled out.
In fact, a meeting of the BRICS countries of which the two countries are the part, has also been organized on the sidelines of the G20.  (UNI)
