Srinagar:Three suspected militants have been killed in a brief shootout with forces in Watergam Brakpora area of Islamabad district.
Reports said that earlier gunshots were heard at Bulbul Nowgam and Brakpora areas of the district. Police officials have confirmed the death of 3 militants in what they termed a chance encounter.
However their identities are yet to be ascertained. Director General of Police SP Vaid tweeted: “In a chance encounter 3 terrorists killed near Anantnag (Islamabad) by joint team of security forces. Their identities are being ascertained. Well done!”
19 RR of Indian army and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police were involved in the brief shootout.
