SRINAGAR: One person was injured after army allegedly opened fire in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

Reports said that army opened fire following an altercation between soldiers and civilians over the thrashing of a youth.

The one injured was identified as 60-year-old Mohammad Abdullah Ganaie, was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment.

According to reports that passers-by, including Ganaie, staged a protest after army men thrashed a scooty rider in Goriwan area. Ganai is a resident of Hussanpora village of Arwani area of the district.
