SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown was observed in Bijbehara town of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday to mourn the killing of 60 year old civilian, Mohammad Abdullah Ganai allegedly at the hands of Army.

All shops, business establishments and educational institutions were closed in the town, however traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway was moving normally.

Ganai, a resident of nearby Hussainpora village was injured after Army soldiers opened fire in Bijbehara on Monday. He succumbed to his injuries last evening at SKIMS Soura. He was laid to rest amid pro freedom slogans at his native village.

He was injured after an altercation between Army soldiers and locals was followed by firing at the hands of Army.
