SRINAGAR: National Conference on Thursday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Akeel Ahmad Bhat of Gabarpora Pulwama.

National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Budgam, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said it had become a norm that everyday an innocent Kashmiri was getting killed.

In a statement issued from party headquarters he said, “It’s really unfortunate that civilians as young as Akeel have to die and that there was no accountability for such killings.” He expressed  sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty  to give strength to the bereaved to bear the loss.

He expressed  dismay over the fact that Chief Minister and head of the Unified Command had not spoken a word over the continued  spree of civilian killings. “Ever since PDP-BJP government  assumed office, Kashmir has suffered deaths and maimings of worst order. And Mehbooba Mufti is not just complacent but silent too,” he said.

NC reiterated  that dialogue between India and Pakistan was the only way to end the “senseless  violence”. “Unfortunately, PDP has completely given away to BJP and forgotten the so called Agenda of Alliance,” he said.
