SRINAGAR: Friday congregational prayers were allowed for the second successive week at the historic Jamia Masjid in Shehar-e-Khas (SeK).
Chairman of the Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq remained under house arrest for past over two months while there was no relief for chairman of Syed Ali Shah Geelani (G).
Immediately after Friday prayers were over in Jamia Masjid, clashes erupted outside the mosque between security forces and protestors, who were stopped from holding a march against civilian and militant killings in Kashmir valley.
Police said there was no curfew or restrictions in any part of the Valley though deployment of security forces on ground would continue to maintain law and order.
Friday prayers were offered at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad, on the bank of Dal Lake. (UNI)
