Srinagar: A labourer was injured after an unexploded shell inside the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) complex on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir went off.

Official sources told UNI that labourers were engaged to clear debris of an encounter between militants and security forces last year, which resulted in damage to the EDI building in Pampore in south Kashmir district of Pulwama. Security forces killed three militants, who were holdup in EDI building, in a 48-hour-long gunfight on February 23, 2016.

They said labourer Jan Mohammad Dar was injured when an unexploded shell lying in the debris exploded while he was working.

The injured was immediately taken to a local hospital from where he was referred to a hospital in Srinagar.
