Srinagar: Governor N. N. Vohra has extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and prayed for their well-being and prosperity.

In his message of felicitations, the Governor has hoped that this festival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, and revive the glorious pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries past.

The Governor prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.  Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has felicitated people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

In her message on the occasion, the Chief Minister prayed the blessed festival further inculcates the values of selfless service, piety and care about others among us. She said the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) which embodies these values needs to be followed more in present times which are engulfed by acrimony, ill will and confrontation all across the globe.

Mehbooba Mufti said the occasions like Eid should invite us to think about happiness and welfare of those who cannot afford or who became victims of fate due to one reason or the other. “On this day, let’s give handholding to orphans, widows, destitute and any other who needs it. There lies the real spirit of celebrating Eid-ul-Azha”, she said in her message.

Terming the Hajj pilgrimage, which coincides with this festival, as the best example of human camaraderie, Mehbooba Mufti said the annual pilgrimage gives us a message that no barriers of caste, creed, colour or region exist before God except piety and good deeds.

The Chief Minister hoped the day brings an everlasting joy, peace and happiness to the people of the State. National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Mr. Omar Abdullah on Friday greeted the people of the State and the entire Muslim fraternity on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Praying for peace, stability and prosperity in the State, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mr. Omar Abdullah said Eid was a special occasion to remember the lesser privileged, destitute and downtrodden and to share our joy with them.

Highlighting the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness that is epitomized by Eid-ul-Azha, NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mr. Omar Abdullah said it was important to remember families, especially children who had lost their near and dear ones to violence.

“Eid-ul-Azha is a special occasion for all of us to dedicate ourselves to the service of our people and to work earnestly to resolve issues that continue to adversely affect their lives”, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mr. Omar Abdullah said in their message.

Senior National Conference Leaders including NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Provincial Presidents Nasir Aslam Wani, Devender Singh Rana, Abdul Rahim Rather, Chaudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Mubarak Gul, Aga Ruhullah, Sharif-ud-din Shariq, Mir Saifullah, Sakina Ittoo, Shameema Firdous, Dr. Bashir Veeri and party legislators and functionaries have also extended warm greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
