Srinagar, Sept 15 : Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) in summer capital, Srinagar for the second successive Friday to prevent any untoward incident following the killing of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) chief Abu Ismail and his associate Abu Qasim in an encounter on city outskirts yesterday.
However, there was no strike call from any separatist organisations against the killing of militants, involved in the attack on a bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag in July this year that left eight yatris dead and over 20 others wounded.
Meanwhile, all gates of historic Jamia Masjid remained closed for the second week (Friday).
Masjid is stronghold of chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, who has been put under house arrest since last evening while chairman of hardline HC Syed Ali Shah Geelani remained confined in his Hyderpora house because of restrictions.
According to the District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC have been imposed under the jurisdiction of Police Stations, Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar and Safakadal, in district Srinagar on September 15 (Friday) as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.
