New Delhi, Sep 22 : Soon after exchange of fire along the Line of Control, India today clearly told Pakistan that its Army reserved the right to retaliate appropriately to any incident leading to loss of life of its troop.
The message was conveyed by Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen AK Bhatt to his counterpart from Pakistan Maj Gen Sahir Shamshed Mirza when they spoke over hotline after the firing, an Army release said here.
He said Indian Army was making all efforts to maintain peace and tranquility along the LoC provided there was a reciprocal effort from Pakistan.
Lt Gen Bhatt rejected Pakistan’s allegation that Indian troops were targeting civilians in firing, saying that all ceasefire violations in the Jammu Sector were initiated by Pak Rangers and the BSF troops deployed only responded appropriately to them.
Apart from these, BSF troops resorted to firing at armed intruders attempting to infiltrate from close proximity of Pak posts along Amritsar Border, he said. (UNI)
