New Delhi, Sept 26 : With the arrest of one person, Delhi Police Crime Branch busted an interstate drug trafficking racket and recovered 26.5 kg of fine quality marijuana worth Rs 27 lakh.
Police on Tuesday said that the arrested accused identified as Shiv Ram Singh(40) was arrested from Anaj Mandi Bus Stop, Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh Road, when he had come to deliver 26.5 kg marijuana to one of his party.
Police said that during interrogation, the accused revealed that when it was becoming difficult for him to earn bread & butter for his family, his brother-in-law, Amit, a drug supplier asked him to join him in the illicit trade of Ganja to make money and he started assisting Amit in the procurement and supplying of Ganja.
The accused further said that Initially he used to visit Orissa for procuring Ganja from the contacts of Amit. Recently, Amit was arrested in Gurugram when he was supplying Ganja. Finding it a good opportunity, he took over the place of Amit and started supplying Ganja by using established network of his brother-in-law.
The value of the recovered Ganja is Rs. 27 lakh approximately.
Further efforts are being made to reach the source of supply and unearth the people who are associated with Ram Singh in this illicit trade, police added. (UNI)
