Srinagar, Oct 2 : Alert troops foiled yet another infiltration bid, killing a militant near Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara on early Monday morning, official sources said.
However, when challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, they said, adding the fire was returned ensuing an encounter.
A militant was killed so far, they said, adding a fierce encounter was going on when the reports last came in.
Additional security forces have been rushed to the area and a massive hunt has been launched in the dense forest to nab the other militants. (UNI)
