SRINAGAR: A minor boy and a girl were killed and four others injured as the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire and shelling in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

An official said that Pakistan army resorted to heavy shelling in Degwar, Banvat, Bagyal Dhara, Shahpur and Kirni sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in the district.

Local reports said that nine-year-old Sarfaraz Ahmad, a resident of Naka Qasba area, was killed after suffering multiple injuries due to shelling.

They said that a 15-year-old Shamim Akhtar was also killed in Degwar village.
