Srinagar:  Protests erupted in Ganderbal and Srinagar areas today over the latest incidents of alleged braid chopping.

Reports said that people took to streets in Habba Kadal and Buchpora Soura area of Srinagar over the braid chopping off a woman in the Karfalli Mohalla locality earlier morning.  Shouting anti-government and pro-freedom slogans, the protestors including children and women demanded action against the culprits.

Protests were also held in Arhama and Kujar areas of Ganderbal after unknown persons chopped off the braid of two teenage girls.

However the protests against braid chopping in the valley finally reached in the power corridors of the state as government employees of Civil.

Reports said that female staff of the Civil Secretariat assembled outside the office of Chief Secretary BB demanding action against the braid choppers.

Panic has gripped the Kashmir valley following a spate of braid-chopping incidents across the Valley during the one month.

Police, however, has not been able to arrest a single culprit despite announcing reward money, help lines and probe teams to crack the case.
