Srinagar, Oct 17 : A militant was killed in a scuffle after three gunmen shot dead a ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ex-panch in south Kashmir district of Shopian Monday night.
Official sources said that a group of militants entered the house of a PDP ex-panch Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh at Nagbal in Shopian last night.
However, before the inmates could do anything militants fired upon 50-year-old Sheikh.
Immediately after the incident the other family members and neighbours tried to overpower the militants, leading to scuffle in which a militant was killed.
However, two other militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
