Srinagar: The students of University of Kashmir (KU) Monday named the central library square as “Geelani Square and held a massive protest demonstration in the campus to observe “October 27 black day”.

The University remained shut on Oct 27 after the shutdown call of resistance leader against the landing of Indian forces in Kashmir on the same day in 1947.

“We want to reiterate upon the world leadership that Jammu and Kashmir is being militarily occupied by India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir want the occupation to end,” one of the protesting students said.

“We have also named the central library square as “Geelani Square”, he said.
