Srinagar, Nov 17 :Traffic was restored on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, after remaining suspended for several hours due to landslides on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, traffic on the Srinagar-Leh national highway was delayed on Friday due to slippery road conditions following fresh snowfall between Sonmarg and Zojila, a traffic police official said this morning.

Decision to allow traffic on 86-km-long historic Mughal road, linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, will be taken later as the road remained slippery in the morning and evening hours due to below freezing temperature, he said.

He said traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was suspended last night following landslides at Ramsu.
However, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway, immediately pressed into service sophisticated machines and men to remove the landslides.
