Srinagar, Nov 18 : Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the downtown, Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and areas falling under two police stations in the civil lines and old city since early Saturday morning.

The historic Jamia Masjid was again closed for devotees after allowing Friday prayers for three successive weeks, including yesterday.

The authorities have already ordered closure of all educational institutions, though examinations would be conducted as per schedule while rail service has been suspended in the valley as a precautionary measure following death of a militant in a brief encounter in the downtown last evening. A Sub Inspector was also killed and another policeman injured in the gunfight.
