Srinagar, Nov 23: Two-way traffic has been allowed on the historic 86-km-long Mughal road, connecting south Kashmir with Jammu, though vehicles will ply from only one side on the Srinagar-Leh national highway as a precautionary measure following slippery road conditions.

Meanwhile, the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was also through for two-way light vehicular traffic though heavy vehicles will continue to ply from one side only.

A traffic police official said on Thursday that two-way light vehicular traffic was allowed to ply since 0900 hrs on Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir to Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu.
โ€œDue to slippery road condition, traffic could be allowed only after 0900 hrs,โ€ he said.

However, he said no heavy vehicle will be allowed on the road from either side.
