Ramanathapuram, Nov 28 : In yet another major haul, sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 9.
294 kg gold smuggled from Sri Lanka via sea route at Thondi, here last evening.

DRI officials said here today that acting on specific inputs, the DRI team rounded up two persons—Ramadoss (41) and Saravanan (40), when they were roaming suspiciously at Thondi bus stand.
The duo possessed eight gold biscuits with foreign markings and few gold pieces.

Investigation revealed that a local person, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, received the yellow metal contraband from a Sri Lankan National on the high seas off Thondi and brought it in a fishing boat to the shore.
