SRINAGAR: In a major scam in last three years after floods in 2014, nearly rupees 50 crore have been withdrawn for the drugging and cleaning of river Jhelum from Haba kadal to Noor bagh cement bridge area, sources said.

However, the situation on the ground is different from the paper work of Flood and irrigation department. Locals said that no drugging or cleaning have been done so far. They said that the soil extracted from the river banks is also being dumped in the river which exposes seriousness of the concern department.

This serious question is how such a huge amount was withdrawn without any work done on the ground. How such a huge corruption within the department under the very nose of higher official goes unnoticed.

People while talking to Kashmir Press service demands probe into the scam besides immediate steps for drugging and cleanness of the river Jehlum.
