Sangli, Dec 9 : One more policeman was suspended in connection with the custodial death of Aniket Kothale, a 26-year-old suspect.

Inspector General of Police (Kolhapur range) Vishwas Nangare-Patil on Friday suspended Assistant Police Inspector Subhash Kamble, working in city police station, for not registering an offence of murder of Aniket,
despite it being a serious incident.

He also transferred Police Inspector Uday Dubal to Kolhapur police headquarters in connection with the crime.

Earlier seven policemen, including station in-charge Milind Shinde, his helper Gajanan Vavhal, constables Pradip Jadhav, Swaroopa Patil, Jyoti Waze, Shrikant Bulbule, and wireless operator Subhadra Sabale, were suspended.

While the policemen had initially said the accused had fled from their custody, an inquiry confirmed that they not only beat the accused till he died inside the Sangli city police station, but also burnt his body to destroy evidence.
