Kalaburagi, Karnataka, Dec 15 ; Two police constables were injured in a shootout after they tried to arrest a notorious
criminal in Tavargera cross on the outskirts of the city on Friday.

According to the police, the cops opened fire to prevent rowdy-sheeter, identified as Yashwant Sultanpur and wanted in recent case of kidnap and murder, from escaping.
The encounter saw theย criminal return fire using country made weapon and the two policemen sustained injuries in the shootout.

Yashwant faced charges of kidnapping KPTCL Contractor Manappa and murdering him thereafter recently.
He had succeeded in escaping from police net since the last two months.
