Srinagar, Dec 26 : ย A Special mobile magistrate-13 Finance discharged the French journalist arrested by the police here on charge of visa violation.

The French journalist, Paul Comiti, was arrested by police on charges of visa violation on December 10 from Press Enclave here. He was, however, released on bail a few days later.

Officials had said Comiti was carrying out journalistic activities in Kashmir while staying on a business visa. Following his arrest, head of French Embassyโ€™s Counsellor sectionย flew to Srinagar and met police.

Comiti was released from police custody on ย December 12 evening, but his belongings were still with the police.They said Comiti was now with the French embassy Counsellor section head Philippe Ducornet in Srinagar.

Police Station Kotihibagh had registered an FIR vide number 87/2017 under section 14 (B) of Passport Act against Comititee.ย  (Kashmir Wire)
