Anantnag, Dec 29: Traders from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district Friday appealed Inspector General of Police to relocate the SOG camp from Kadipora area.

The shopkeepers from Kadipora alleged that this Camp has become a nuisance to them as after every Friday congregational prayers, Kadipora becomes the virtual field due to the presence of this Camp.

“Kadipora was a peaceful area. Two months ago, a camp was set up here and since then youth emerge from different parts and pelt stones on it. Our business has greatly affected,” said a shopkeeper Javaid Ahmed Shiekh to news agency CNS.

The shopkeepers appealed IGP Kashmir Zone to remove or relocate this camp in the interest of business community.

Meanwhile, police arrested a couple of youths during clashes at Kadipora and Sarnal areas of the district. Reports said that shortly after the culmination of Friday congregational prayers, a large number of youth pelted stones on SOG Kadipora. The policemen retaliated with tear-smoke shells. The clashes created panic in the area while shopkeepers lowered their shops. (CNS)
