Baramulla, Jan 19  : Traffic on Sopore-Bandipora road was suspended due to protests against attaching about a dozen villages with a new tehsil at Dangerpora after detaching them from Sopore, official sources said.

They said that residents of about a dozen villages, including Watlab, Mogripora and Rajpora, hit the Sopore-Bandipora road Friday morning, demanding that they should be again attached with Sopore tehsil.

Raising slogans against the government, the agitators, including women, alleged that they were deliberately attached with Dangerpora Tehsil.

“We were with Sopore tehsil which was easily accessible,” they said adding that they find it difficult now to go to Dangerpora.

The agitators refused to allow any traffic and demanded that senior civil and police officers should assured them that they will be again attached with Sopore tehsil.
