Srinagar, Jan 23 :An orphanage and two residential houses were gutted in a devastating fire in Jawhar Nagar area of the summer capital, Srinagar, late on Monday night, official sources said.
They said the blaze was reported at Jawahar Nagar late on Monday night.
Bait-ul-Hilal orphanage and two residential houses were involved in the fire before the fire tenders could reach the spot.
However, the inmates of orphanage were safely rescued by the locals and police, they added.
Officials said fire tenders were rushed from different parts of the city, including Fire and Emergency Service department , Batamaloo to extinguish the leaping flames, clearly visible from a distance.
